Academic Quarterly Schedule

Pacific States University follows a consistent quarterly schedule. Each quarter observes the following timeline:

  • Registration Opens: Approximately four weeks before the quarter start date.
  • Registration Closes: By the end of the week prior to the quarter start (11:59 p.m.)
  • Add/Drop/Swap Ends: By the end of Week 3 of the quarter
  • Quarter Begins: 1st of the quarter start month (January, April, July, October)
  • Course Begins: First monday of the quarter start month (January, April, July, October)
  • Instruction Period: 10 weeks
  • Final Examinations: Conducted during Week 11 (Monday–Friday)
  • Student Recess: Approximately two weeks between quarters

 

Observed Holidays (Campus Closed)

Pacific States University observes all federal holidays and California state holidays. The campus is closed on the following days each year:

  • January 1 – New Year’s Day (Federal & California Holiday)
  • Third Monday in January – Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Federal Holiday)
  • Third Monday in February – Presidents’ Day (Federal Holiday)
  • March 31 – Cesar Chávez Day (California Holiday)
  • Last Monday in May – Memorial Day (Federal Holiday)
  • June 19 – Juneteenth National Independence Day (Federal Holiday)
  • July 4 – Independence Day (Federal & California Holiday)
  • First Monday in September – Labor Day (Federal Holiday)
  • November 11 – Veterans Day (Federal & California Holiday)
  • Fourth Thursday in November – Thanksgiving Day (Federal Holiday)
  • Fourth Friday in November – Day after Thanksgiving (California Holiday)
  • December 25 – Christmas Day (Federal & California Holiday)
  • Late December – Winter Break (Institutional observance; dates announced annually)
