About Us
The Buffinger & Evans Research Institute (BERI) at Pacific States University (PSU) is dedicated to advancing knowledge in the broader context of US-Asia and US-Europe connections. The institute's focus spans a wide range of subjects, including contemporary politics, economy, society, technology, and culture viewed through a comparative lens. BERI also delves into common challenges faced by developed democracies, the global impact of popular culture, the burgeoning civil society, the international relations landscapes, and the global governance of critical issues such as trade, environment, consumer behavior, and public health.
BERI actively encourages outstanding scholars and professionals globally to engage in research within these diverse areas of inquiry. The institute provides opportunities through its international visitor program (J-1 visa), conferences, symposia, study groups, and other events. Through this program, BERI selects postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and professional associates, granting them the esteemed status of University Officers during their tenure at PSU. These individuals not only enjoy this academic standing but also actively participate in BERI's research and study activities, contributing to the institute's overarching mission.
